Strategically situated at the heart of the Bigouden country, renowned for its tall Breton head dresses, Plonéour-Lanvern is an ideal base to discover this beautiful part of southwestern Brittany. The beautiful riverside city of Quimper is a short drive away (25 km) and for surfboarding fanatics, the impressive Pointe du Raz is just down the road. Also worth a visit, all the lovely fishing villages (St Guénolé, Lesconil, Loctudy) as well as Le Guilvinec, famous for its lobsters, eels and hakes. Further away but still within easy driving distance, the fortified town of Concarneau and the artists' haunt of Pont Aven. The family seaside resort of Bénodet is 18 km away.

PLACES TO SEE:
Le Guilvinec. 15 km. Picturesque fishing village which offers day after day, the colourful and lively show of its trawlers coming back laden with lobsters, eels, hakes under the seagulls’ watchful eyes.
Pointe de la Torche. 15 km. Classified natural site at the southeastern tip of the Audierne Bay, popular with surfers.
Bénodet. 18 km. Charming and popular seaside resort and yachting centre with long and sheltered sandy beach. At the mouth of the Odet river, it can also be reached by boat from Quimper. The resort boasts a golf course, talassotherapy centre, casino and a good selection of restaurants.
Quimper. 25 km. Beautiful riverside city with narrow cobbled streets, a Gothic cathedral and a host of lively bars and restaurants. Famous for its Breton faience pottery and Armor Lux clothes factory which collections are inspired by the colours of the sea and Breton values.

Golf L'Odet- Benodet, Clohars Fouesnant. 20 km. Golf course. 18 holes Par 72 - 5843m. 9 holes - Par 27 - 971m. Close to the seaside resort of Bénodet, amongst oaks and pines in a beautiful woodland with ponds, the course is full of character.
Aquashow, Audierne. 25 km. Aquarium. Enjoy an afternoon discovering Brittany’s flora and fauna.
Bonobo Parc, Quimper. 25 km. Tree top adventure park. Tree top trails and aerial walkways. Great fun for the whole family. Open weekends and school holidays.
Les Balneides, Fouesnant. 30 km. Waterpark. Tropical atmosphere and heated swimming pools (29°C) with 75m toboggan, water jets, water cannons, whirlpool, slides, paddling and toddler pools, sauna and aquagym. Paradise all year round!

FURTHER AFIELD:
Concarneau. 40 km. Fishing port with delightful fortified old city. Enjoy a stroll through the small town and don’t miss the famous Kouign Amann, a Breton cake full of butter and sugar. Very naughty but so delicious!
Pointe du Raz. 35 km. Most famous headland in Brittany and beauty spot offering breath taking vistas over the Atlantic ocean. Celebrated by Flaubert and Victor Hugo, it attracts millions of visitors. A stunning place to be on a windy day!
Pont Aven. 50 km. Artists’ haunt situated inland from the tip of the Aven estuary. It is a small port popular with tourists and boasting many art galleries. Made famous by Gauguin when he came to paint in the 1880’s before leaving for Tahiti and inspired the Pont Aven school.
Crozon Peninsula. 60 km. Scenic rugged coastline with numerous fishermen’s ports and sheltered sandy coves. Spectacular natural setting for walks, bike rides and watersports.
