Location
Situated in the peaceful historic village of Caveirac with local shops, restaurants and bars, 10 km west of Nîmes, within easy rech of the Camargue, Mediterranean coast and Cévennes. An area with a rich heritage and many Roman remains. No to miss: Pont Du Gard, Arles, Nîmes, Orange, Uzès, Montpellier… Environment : In the centre of the village, next to the town hall, a 17th century castle also know as the "little Versailles". PLACES TO SEE: Nîmes. 10 km. On the border between Provence and Languedoc, the city boasts some of the most extensive Roman remains in Europe. Famous for its arena, the best preserved amphitheatre of the Roman era built under Emperor Augustus in the 1st century A.D. Camargue. 30 km. Natural Park, around the Rhone Delta, home to bulls, wild white horses, flamingoes and with an exceptionally rich wild life. Best discovered slowly, on foot, on horseback, on a bicycle or in a boat. FURTHER AFIELD: Avignon. 55 km City of history and city of theatre, the fortified city of Avignon marked by papal history will charm you with its ancient streets, spectacular monuments and museums and impressive number of cafes and restaurants. Its famous bridge still stands over the Rhone river. St Rémy de Provence. 60 km. As picturesque and Provencal as can be, with narrow winding streets, shady squares, fantastically old fountains, elegant shops, art galleries and plenty of bars and restaurants. The village and surrounding countryside has inspired many artists including Van Gogh who produced more than 150 paintings of the area. Also birthplace of Nostradamus. Les Baux de Provence. 60 km. Most beautiful Provencal hill top and fortified village, in the heart of the Alpilles with brilliant view of Arles, the Camargue and the Alpilles. Officially classified and labelled as "one of the most beautiful villages in France", it is one of the “must sees” in Provence. Les Saintes Maries de la Mer. 70 km. In the heart of Camargue's Parc Naturel, surrounded by immense plains filled with ponds and wild lands. Traditionally the meeting place for the gypsy people whose rich folklore and music attract many visitors all throughout the year.
