Location

Set in southern Brittany, between La Baule and Morbihan Gulf, on the coast, below the Rhuys peninsula. Damgan offers all the pleasures of the beach and watersport activities such as sailing, fishing as well as a number of walks. 30 km south east of the delightful city of Vannes with its marina, narrow cobbled streets and medieval builiding. PLACES TO SEE:
Rhuys Peninsula. Between the Gulf of Morbihan and the Altantic ocean, it boasts long sandy beaches, a golf course directly on the Atlantic coast, small fishing ports and the typical weekly markets. A paradise for sailors and watersports enthusiasts.
Gulf of Morbihan. Inland sea dotted with beautiful and picturesque little islands (one for each day of the year !) offering an exceptional panorama that can be enjoyed by boat or during a walk along the coast.
Vannes. 30 km. Delightful and lively city with narrow cobbled streets and medieval buildings crammed around its cathedral. Outside the old walled town, the large colourful port shelters many yachts and is the point of departure for scenic boat trips to the Gulf of Morbihan islands.
Auray. 45 km. Charming little town with beautiful old quarter with delightful 15th and 16th century houses. Nearby Ste Anne d’Auray is Brittany’s most important place of pilgrimage drawing thousands of pilgrims and tourists from all over the world all year round but especially on July 26th for its “Pardon de Ste Anne” which was attended by Pope John Paul II in 1996.

Parc de Branféré, Le Guerno. 17 km. Animal park.Very pleasant vast open air animal park with over 120 species and some 1,000 animals from around the world. In a beautiful setting, with the lovely backdrop of Château Branféré.
Château de Suscinio, Sarzeau. 25 km. Impressive 13th century moated fortress and home of various Dukes of Brittany. The castle also houses a museum of the history of Brittany and the Morbihan area.
Golf Rhuys-Kerver, St Gildas de Rhuys. 30 km. Golf course. 18 holes Par 72 - 5989m. At the heart of Southern Brittany bird reserve, next to herons and egrets, an authentic seaside course. Rolling greens and plenty of water features.
Aquarium du Golfe, Vannes. 30 km. Aquarium. 50 tanks taking you from the Morbihan Gulf to the Red Sea via the Amazon. A refreshing visit for the whole family.

FURTHER AFIELD:
La Baule. 65 km. Fashionable and stylish seaside resort with beautiful sandy beaches, talassotherapy centre and casino.
Josselin. 75 km. Lovely medieval town on the banks of the tranquil River Oust. The town is overlooked by a magnificent castle, still inhabited but open to the public. The castle also hosts an interesting Doll museum.

Low cost flights from UK to Nantes (90 mns), Rennes (1 hr 45 mns).
Ferries to St Malo (2.5 hrs), Roscoff (3 hrs).
