Location
Situated in the fashionable seaside resort of Arcachon, 70 km south west of Bordeaux, at the northern end of the longest and sandiest coast in Europe which stretches 200 km to Biarritz - known as the Côte d'Argent. The resort is sheltered from the mighty Atlantic Ocean thanks to its unique position on the edge of the inlet known as Bassin d’Arcachon rather than facing the ocean directly, and is backed by the largest forest in western Europe. There are many beaches and a host of watersports available, but cyclists and bird watchers will also find plenty to do or observe, whilst gastronomes will be delighted to discover the many restaurants on offer and sample the famous Arcachon oysters.
